Can Rachel answer calls to my existing business number?

Rachel comes with her own number. Here's how to still get calls to the right place.

Written by Alicia

Rachel answers calls on her own phone number. You can't bring your own number to Marblism, but you can have Rachel answer your existing line by forwarding it to her number.

Rachel's number

  • Rachel gets a local number when you finish her setup, in the country and area code you picked.

  • You can't port or bring your own number, choose the exact digits, or change the number later.

  • To find it, open Rachel's Calls tab and look under Rachel's number. You can also ask Rachel in chat.

Have Rachel answer your existing line

Turn on call forwarding with your phone carrier, from your existing line to Rachel's number. The calls then arrive on Rachel's number, and she answers them. Depending on your carrier, you can forward every call, or only the calls you miss or get while busy.

  • Forwarding is set up with your carrier, not in Marblism. Look for "call forwarding" in your carrier's app or help pages.

  • Depending on your carrier, Rachel sees either the caller's number or your line's number.

  • If your subscription ends, Rachel's number is released, and a new subscription gets a new number. Update your forwarding if that happens.

If callers can't reach Rachel

  • Call Rachel's number directly from another phone. If she answers, the problem is the forwarding: check with your carrier that it sends calls to Rachel's number.

  • If you forward only the calls you miss, callers first hear your phone ring for a while before the call moves to Rachel.

  • If Rachel is paused or your plan is out of hours, she still answers: she transfers the caller to you if call transfer is on, or asks them to call back later.

  • If your line forwards every call to Rachel, don't also use it as her transfer number (see below).

Call transfer goes the other way

Call transfer sends a caller from Rachel to you. Turn it on from the gear icon in Rachel's chat, then Skills, then Call Transfer. In the web app, the transfer number has to be in the same country as Rachel's number.

If your line forwards every call to Rachel, don't use that same line as the transfer number: a transferred call would come straight back to Rachel. Transfer to another phone, such as your mobile, or forward only the calls you miss.

For warm and immediate transfers, and single or multiple numbers, see How Rachel's call transfer works.
