If an AI employee shows "{Agent} is taking a short break", it has been paused. It doesn't happen on its own because an agent sat idle. It happens when:
Someone paused the agent. You can resume it yourself, see below.
Your subscription ended or a payment failed. Then every agent in your workspaces goes on a break at once.
Quick ways to reactivate your agent
Resume from the message: click the "Resume Agent" button directly within the agent's message.
Resume from the chat menu: open the chat, click the three dots in the upper-right corner, and select "Resume AI Employee".
All your agents are on a break?
Check your subscription in My Account → Usage and billing (on older plans, My Account → Subscription). Only the workspace owner can do this.
A payment failed: update your card: on the Usage this period card, click the … menu, then Payment method.
Your subscription ended: subscribe again to bring your team back. A new subscription starts on the current hours plans.
Seeing a different message?
"{Agent} has reached their limit and clocked out for the day": a daily fair-use limit. The agent comes back on its own the next day.
"Your team went to the beach": your monthly hours are used up. See What happens when I run out of capacity?
