Why Did I Hit Sonny's Video Generation Limit?

Video generation has its own separate monthly budget, independent of your general hours pool. Here's how it works and what to do when you hit the limit.

Video Has Its Own Monthly Budget

Each plan reserves a specific percentage of its total hours exclusively for video generation. This budget resets every month along with your regular billing cycle.

Plan level

Video budget

Entry plan

20% of monthly hours

Mid-tier plans

Scales between 20% and 70%

Largest plans

Up to 70% of monthly hours

💡 This video budget is separate from the rest of your hours. Hitting the video limit does not affect any of Sonny's other features.

Your First 2 Videos Are Always Free

Every account gets 2 free videos, for any duration or quality. These are granted once per subscription and do not reset monthly. From the third video onward, each generation draws from your monthly video budget.

"Video Hours" Are Not the Same as Video Length

This is the most common point of confusion. "Video hours" are your plan's billing unit, not how long your clip is. For example, a 30-second SD video costs approximately 8 plan hours. The clip is still 30 seconds long; that's simply what it costs to generate.

HD videos cost approximately 2.25 times more than SD per second, so quality affects your budget significantly.

💡 The cost estimate shown on the video card before you click Generate reflects the exact hours that will be deducted from your video budget.

Why Your Video Generation Was Blocked

If you used your 2 free videos and then generated a paid video that consumed most of your monthly video budget, the system will block new standard-length video generations until one of the following happens:

  • Your monthly billing cycle resets and your video budget refreshes.

  • You upgrade to a higher plan with a larger video budget percentage.

⚠️ Only video generation is paused. Posts, replies, comments, and all other Sonny features continue working normally with your remaining general hours.

Using Multiple Workspaces? Read This:

Your video budget is shared across all workspaces under the same account. Switching to a different workspace will not give you additional video hours, since the limit applies at the account level, not per workspace.
