Sonny videos: who can make them, what they cost, and the monthly limit

Video generation has its own separate monthly budget, independent of your general hours pool. Here's how it works and what to do when you hit the limit.

Sonny's videos use your plan's hours. This page covers who can make them, the two free ones, what a video costs and the monthly video limit. To learn how to make a video, see How to create videos with Sonny?

Who can make videos

  • Videos come with the hours plans. What counts is the plan of the workspace owner, the person who pays for the workspace.

  • Anyone in the workspace can make a video, the owner or a teammate. Sonny prepares the video card, then a person clicks Generate video. Sonny can't start a video himself.

  • On an older plan, Sonny still prepares the card, but Generate video asks you to switch plans first. Only the workspace owner can switch.

  • You can make videos in the mobile app too. To change your plan, use the web app.

Your first two videos are free

  • Your first two videos are free, whatever their length or quality. While you have free videos left, the card shows Free instead of the hours.

  • They're counted for the workspace owner, across every workspace they own. They don't come back with a new month, a new workspace, a new teammate or a new subscription.

  • A video that fails doesn't use one of your free videos.

What a video costs

  • Every finished video uses hours, and so does each Generate again: every take is a new video.

  • The hours grow with every second of video, and HD uses about 2.25 times the hours of SD. The hours per second are in Marblism Pricing Plans & Billing Cadence.

  • Before you click Generate video, the card shows the hours the video will use. With Automatic length it's an estimate, because the length is only known once the video exists.

  • A video that fails, or that the video provider refuses, costs nothing.

The monthly video limit

  • Videos use your plan's hours, not extra hours. But only part of your hours can go to video each month, so videos can't use up the hours your other AI Employees need.

  • Bigger plans can spend a bigger share of their hours on video. The video limit for each plan is in Marblism Pricing Plans & Billing Cadence.

  • The limit counts across every workspace the owner has, so switching workspaces doesn't give you more video hours.

  • It resets with your hours every month. Bonus hours from our team raise it too.

When you can't make a video

If the next video would go past your monthly video limit, the owner sees Sonny is out of video hours, with the video hours used and the reset date. Teammates see Video hours used up and are asked to contact the workspace owner. Posts and everything else keep working.

You can:

  • Make a shorter video, or switch to SD. The check is on the video you're starting, so a smaller one may still fit.

  • Wait for your monthly reset.

  • Move up a plan: a bigger plan raises the video limit right away. Only the workspace owner can change the plan, from My Account → Usage and billing → Upgrade.

If your plan runs out of hours altogether, videos stop along with the rest of your team's work until the reset. See what happens in Marblism Pricing Plans & Billing Cadence.

If a video is refused

The video provider sometimes refuses a video because of what's in the script or the references. The card then shows why, in a message that starts "The video provider refused this request for content compliance". A refused video costs nothing and doesn't use a free video. Change the script or swap the reference, then generate again. You can also ask Sonny what to change: he can see why it was refused.
