Why Can't Walter Rebuild My Site in a Different Workspace?

If Walter keeps getting stuck or failing when you try to build a site in a new workspace right after he was onboarded, the most likely cause is a name conflict. Here's what that means and what to do.

What's Causing the Problem

Every Walter site gets a unique name when it's created. If that name was already used by another site (even one from a different account or a previous workspace), Walter will keep hitting a wall trying to create the new one. Retrying on your own won't fix it.

⚠️ If Walter has been failing repeatedly on the same attempt, stop retrying. Each new attempt makes the situation harder to resolve. Contact support instead.

How to Fix It

  1. Reach out to the support team and let us know the site name you used.

  2. We'll reset Walter for you so you can try again.

  3. Choose a different, more specific name for your site before trying again.

Be aware that this option is only possible if you first activated Walter on your workspace. Resetting the agent means starting fresh.

💡 Pick a name that's unique to your project, something specific to your brand or business rather than a generic term. This avoids the same issue from happening again.

How to Rebuild a Site the Right Way

Walter does not copy or transfer your original site to a new workspace automatically. Every new workspace starts completely fresh. To get a close replica of your original site:

  • Share the original site's URL with Walter in the new workspace.

  • Add screenshots or describe each section you want to recreate.

  • Use a different site name from the original to avoid the conflict.

Walter will rebuild the site from scratch using that reference. The result will be close to the original but not pixel-perfect automatically. So some editing will be required.
