Overview
If you’re seeing a “Need Admin Approval” message when trying to connect your Outlook account to Marblism, you’ll need to have a Global Administrator grant access to external applications on your behalf. The guide below outlines the steps required for the Global Administrator of your Microsoft 365 account to provide you with the permissions needed to connect your account.
❗️This guide relates to organizations on a Microsoft 365 Enterprise plan. If you aren’t on this plan but are running into the above “Need Admin Approval” message, reach out to our Customer Support team.
💡If you see a “Request Approval” button instead of “Need Admin Approval”, go straight to Step 2.
Step 1 (Global Administrator)
Enabling Admin consent requests in Microsoft Entra ID
Have your Global Administrator follow the steps below:
Sign in to Microsoft Entra ID as a Global Administrator.
Go to Identity → Applications → Enterprise applications.
In the left menu of Enterprise applications, go to Security → Consent and permissions.
Click Admin consent settings.
Find the setting “Users can request admin consent to apps they are unable to consent to.”
Set this option to Yes.
A box called “Who can review admin consent requests” will become available.
Click “Select users to review admin consent requests” and select the Global Administrator (the same admin completing these steps, unless your organization prefers a different reviewer).
Click Save at the top of the page.
After this is saved, you’ll be able to trigger an approval request for external applications like Marblism when you try to connect an Outlook account. This will appear as a “Request Approval” button when you next attempt to connect your Outlook account.
Step 2 (User)
Request approval to connect a Microsoft account
Once Step 1 is complete:
In Eva’s onboarding flow or Settings page, click “Connect an account” under the Outlook tab in either the Inbox or Calendar section.
Repeat this process separately for Inbox and Calendar if you need both connected.
For an enterprise account, click “Sign-in options”.
Choose “Sign in to an organization”.
Enter your organization’s domain name and click Next.
In the new sign-in window, enter your email and password.
In the Justification text box, write a short explanation for the admin. For example:
“I’m connecting Marblism’s Eva so it can manage my Outlook inbox and calendar for scheduling and meeting note-taking.”
Click “Request approval”.
This will send an approval request to the Global Administrator of your Microsoft account.
Step 3 (Global Administrator)
Approving the request in Microsoft Entra ID
After you submit the request, the Global Administrator should receive an email prompting them to approve or deny it.
Regardless of whether they see the email, the request can be approved within Microsoft Entra ID.
To approve Marblism, the Global Administrator needs to:
Return to Identity → Applications → Enterprise applications as in Step 1.
In the left menu, click Admin consent requests.
In the “All (Preview)” tab, locate the user’s request for Marblism and click Review permissions and consent.
A window will appear listing the permissions Marblism is requesting and what data will be accessed.
⚠️ Important
This window contains a checkbox called “Consent on behalf of your organization”. Leave this box unchecked if the admin would prefer to authorize Marblism for that specific user only. Otherwise, tick the box so Marblism can be authorized for all users within the organization.
If multiple users within the enterprise account want to connect Marblism and the box is left unchecked, the admin will need to approve a request for each user.
After reviewing the permissions, click Accept to authorize Marblism.
Once accepted, you should be able to connect your Outlook inbox to Eva to have her manage your emails.
If you’re still having trouble enabling the admin consent workflow, see Microsoft Entra’s help page for more information.
