Why Can't Eva Use My Existing Email Labels or Folders?

Eva is great at keeping your inbox organized, but there's one important thing to know about how she works with labels and folders: she can only use labels she creates herself.

She doesn't have access to labels or folders that were already in your email account before she was connected.

This is a security and access design in how email providers grant permissions to third-party apps. Eva can create and manage her own labels, but she can't read or modify your pre-existing folder structure.

What should I do if I already have a system I like?

You don't have to start from scratch. Here's the approach I recommend:

Step 1: Recreate your labels inside Eva's settings Go to Eva's label configuration and create the same labels you already use. To make it easy to tell them apart from your original ones, add a number in front of each label name.

For example:

  • Your existing label: Notifications

  • Eva's new label: 1. Notifications

This way, both can coexist in your inbox without confusion.

Step 2: Move your existing emails to Eva's new labels Once the new labels are set up, move (or import) the emails from your old folders into Eva's new ones. From that point on, Eva will work from her labels and keep them organized for you.

Step 3: Delete or archive your old labels Once you've migrated your emails, you can delete the original labels or leave them empty, whichever you prefer. Eva won't touch them either way.

Good to know: Going forward, any new emails Eva processes will be filed under her own labels automatically. Your system stays clean and consistent.
